What a great start to our first week in year 1.  The children are settling in well to our new routines and are enjoying exploring their new classrooms. We have made a start on our new topic ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’ and have designed and made paper plateanimals. Take a look at our creations:

Our new topic has started with a very royal celebration.

We had a tea party for the Queen’s 91st Birthday.

We received our very own personal invitation!

We hope you all had a lovely February half term.  It was great to see what some of you got up to on our twitter account.

Our new topic for the Spring 2 Term is Moon Zoom.

The children showed a lot of interest when we were discussing the various theories of why the dinosaurs became extinct – the asteroid hit being the most popular! So we are hoping that this new topic captures their imagination just as much.

The overview and home learning ideas are on our blog now.

The children loved our Dinosaur Planet topic and learnt so much.  We couldn’t believe how much the children did at home to enhance their learning and the many wonderful resources that they brought into class to share with us.  Thank you!

We were delighted that so many of you came to watch our class assembly.  The children were amazing and it was lovely to see how their confidence had grown since our nativity.

The children have returned to school beautifully and are really interested in our new topic DINOSAUR PLANET.

We have lots of things planned for an exciting term ahead.

Oh wow….. something magical happened…. a fairy door appeared and there was a letter!

A fairy was lost and came to our class for help.  We promised to be nature detectives and find out all about woodlands in order to help them find their way back home.

The children have had a great first 1/2 term in Y1.  We hope that you have enjoyed seeing all of the photographs that we have posted on twitter @year1_prescot

They have learnt lots about animals during our topic.  We bet they can tell you all about habitats, camouflage, herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.

We have also seen some very creative children who have made some fantastic paper plate animals and painted some amazing animal pictures.  There was super team work amongst all the children when they planned and designed their own zoo enclosure.

We can’t wait to see what they learn during our next topic.

The children are doing so well settling into their new Y1 classes.  We are delighted with them.
